PhD Summer Workshop on Biology & Ethics (14 May - 25 June 2017)

The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem  invites applications for a summer PhD workshop on the topic of Biology and Ethics (for further details go to: http://cmpp-huji.org/2017project). We will invite up to 6 PhD students to spend 6 weeks, from May 14 to June 25, 2017, as fellows at the Centre to work on their own research and exchange ideas with each other and the members of the Centre. Fellows will attend Walter Sinnott-Armstrongs condensed graduate class on neuroscience and moral responsibility.

Fellows will be expected to attend our annual conference (also on the topic of biology and ethics) to be held on 21-23 June 2017. Confirmed participants include David Shoemaker (Tulan), Guy Kehane (Oxford), Arnon Levy (HUJI), Walter Sinnott-Armstrong (Duke), Christine Clavien (Geneva), Thomas Nadlehoffer (Charleston), Ben Fraser (ANU), David Enoch (HUJI).

The Centre will pay for the trip to Jerusalem, provide accommodation near the university and pay a scholarship of $3000 for the six week period. Successful applicants will be outstanding PhD students whose work is related to the aforementioned topic and who are in the dissertation stage of their program.

Post-doctoral Fellowship in Moral and Political Philosophy (2017/18)


The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is offering one post-doctoral fellowship for the full academic year 2017/18. The Centre especially encourages applications by candidates whose research interests coincide with the Centre's annual theme for 2017/18: Ethics and Uncertainty  see 
detailed description here.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in philosophy or a related discipline approved after May 2013 and no later than the time of the commencement of the fellowship.

Fellows are expected to take part in all the activities of the Centre throughout their fellowship, including active participation in colloquia and discussion groups, as well as conferences and workshops at the Center and elsewhere. Fellows may offer to teach a course on a topic related to their research proposal. The fellowship carries a monthly stipend of 10,000 NIS (approximately $2500). The Centre will supply travel funds as well.

Applications should include a research proposal, curriculum vitae, a list of publications, two letters of recommendation (sent directly to the Centre) and the abstract and sample chapter from the doctoral dissertation and/or a recent publication. Please send all materials, in PDF format only, to:

PhD Student Travel Bursaries

The Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is offering up to US$1500 to cover travel costs, accommodation and registration fees for students participating in conferences abroad.

PhD candidates studying at any department at the Hebrew University doing research in Moral and Political Philosophy are eligible.
